Born as a spin-off of the successful “PMI Network” experience, the MITICA project – Modelli Innovativi di Trasferimento alle Imprese di Competenze Avanzate – funded under the Interreg Italy-Switzerland Programme 2021–27, aims to enhance local businesses and create a shared Academy. It provides practical tools for updating managerial and technical skills, with a focus on innovation and sustainable digital transition.
Coordinated by the Politecnico di Milano – Polo territoriale di Lecco and Fondazione Agire, in collaboration with Confartigianato Imprese Lecco, Confartigianato Imprese Lombardia, Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, AITI – Associazione Industrie Ticinesi and ATED – Associazione Ticinese Evoluzione Digitale, MITICA targets micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) located in the cross-border area between the Province of Lecco and the Canton Ticino.
Micro and small enterprises are the driving force of the local economy, but they often struggle to adopt innovative models and advanced technologies. MITICA addresses this need by focusing on training, promoting the adoption of new skills and digital tools, with particular attention to strategic sectors such as advanced manufacturing and mechatronics.
Following an analysis of the training needs of the identified value chains, the project’s innovative approach is based on the creation of a Learning Management System (LMS), enabling flexible and personalized training for homogeneous groups of participants. This digital tool allows companies to access advanced training content, developed in collaboration with industry experts, and to immediately apply the knowledge acquired in their work environment.
The project also aims to bring younger generations closer to the world of local entrepreneurship, with the long-term goal of helping to bridge the mismatch between labor demand and supply. In this regard, MITICA will promote targeted initiatives to strengthen the attractiveness of MSMEs and guide young people toward technical careers.
